Deputy President William Ruto on Friday took Mombasa by storm as he embarked on a three-day mission to rally the Coast region to support his presidential bid and reject the Building Bridges Initiative.
The DP who was accompanied by 20 MPs other big-name politicians laid siege of Kisauni constituency, a key stronghold of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
Dr Ruto who preached the "hustler nation" gospel found the perfect opportunity to tear the BBI into shreds, saying that it is a priority for Kenyans at the moment.
According to the DP and his entourage, Jubilee Government lost track on the Big Four agenda immediately after President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga's handshake deal.
It is the handshake that birthed the BBI, which is now being used to push for the amendment of the Constitution.
While blaming Raila for derailing the Jubilee Government agenda, Dr Ruto said that the former Prime Minister is a party wrecker who thrives on destroying political parties.
On her part, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa mocked Raila, saying that the ODM boss had been duped by the President into a handshake deal in the hope that he will be supported for the presidency come the next general election.
According to Jumwa, Raila is not even in Uhuru's succession plans come 2022.
With the calls to reject BBI taking centre stage, the DP is on a mission to rally the Coast region, the key stronghold of Raila into rejecting the calls to amend the Constitution.
On Saturday, the DP will take his Hustler Nation and anti-BBI gospel to Kilifi.
