Gumbo who is vying on the UDM party, has unveiled David Ohito as his running mate and this shapes up the gubernatorial race in the bid to succeed governor Cornel Rasanga who is completing his last term in office.

Gumbo is expected to battle it out with Siaya Senator James Orengo who is also eying the top county seat using Orange Democratic Movement that is headed by the former prime minister Raila Amollo Odinga.
In summary, Gumbo has expressed courage that he will deliver the victory come August 9th, 2022. This comes barely one week after Charles Owino withdrew as Gumbo's running mate on the ground that he didn't resign from his position and the that he was recalled back to duty by the national police service.
