ODM MP Chased, Vehicle Vandalized in Bomet as Two Camps Clash

After attending a fundraising event in Ndanai for Small Children's Home, followers of Bomet senator Christopher Langat and those of senate 2022 hopeful Wilson Sossion sharply differed. The two camps clashed in a road side rally few kilometres away from the fundraising venue.

Passing by, the former KNUT secretary general had it rough after goons believed to be of Langat's camp pettled stones on his car. To save the situation, his driver sped off to save the ODM nominated MP from harm. The vehicle was badly damaged a proof that the goons were ruthless.

It's believed that Langat's camp were displeased with the sentiments Sossion said in the fundraiser against the current senator. He poked holes on the incumbent saying corruption was rampant in the county government of Bomet and Langat was sleeping on his job.

"We shall restore the sanity back to our county, corruption is an everyday cup of tea in the county government and it's sad that the current senator is not doing anything. When we take over in 2022, every one responsible will be held accountable. The role of the senate is to oversee the county and it does not look good here," said Sossion.

Evading harm, the vehicle of the MP hit a roadside vendor at Kaplong center, this further caused commotion in the town which had it's market day. She was rushed to Kaplong mission hospital with minor leg injuries. Traders condemned the incident saying it was unfortunate as it would have been fatal. They urged voters to be peaceful ahead if 2022 as politics of intolerance was long overdue.

"It's sad that an innocent woman almost lost her life because of such acts. It was wrong to stone the MP, even if you don't agree with him, just wait for election day. The driver should as well have been cautious," Korir a trader said.
