Kihika speaking during a church service in Kirinyaga which was attended by DP Ruto said the claims that Mt Kenya leaders are not behind Ruto are lies being spread by the DP’s political opponents.
Speaking in Kikuyu language, the senator said the lies are being spread so that other leaders and Kenyans from other regions would fear supporting Ruto.
She further claimed their political opponents are spreading lies that the section of leaders from Mt Kenya supporting Ruto are being paid every Friday to mobilize voters in the region to vote for Ruto come 2022.
Kihika dismissed claims that Mt Kenya leaders are lying to DP Ruto about the real support he is getting on the ground as she said Mt Kenya is behind Ruto.
“Is Kirinyaga with Ruto? Are you with William Ruto 100 percent? They will not intimidate us to fear supporting Ruto. And they will claim they are giving Mt Kenya leaders money every Friday to support Ruto and say on the ground things are different that they are not supporting him,” said Kihika.
Barely a day after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru’s warning to presidential candidates that Mt Kenya will move in one direction, Kihika sent a message to Waiguru saying DP Ruto’s support is growing in different regions adding that Kirinyaga is also supporting the DP.
“So we are with Ruto, Kirinyaga is with Ruto. She should tell Kirinyaga people that Nakuru is also with William Ruto,” added Kihika.
