Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, has revealed the number of Political parties that have been registered since Kenya held general elections in August 2022.
During a meeting at Utalii College where Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati met with Political Parties liason committee, Nderitu revealed that her office cleared a total of 82 Political Parties ahead of 2022 polls, out of the 82 Parties 78 fielded candidates to contest for varous seats.
According to her, out of the 78 Parties which fielded candidates in the August polls, only 48 won atleast a seat with 30 failing to secure even a single seat.
Nderitu further revealed that since the August General Elections 7 Parties have since been fully registered making the total number of registered parties 89. She stated that the seven had begun the registration process ahead of the 2022 Polls but completed after the Polls.
