According to the 2022 Twiplomacy World Leader Power Ranking, President William Ruto climbed nine places in rankings to become Africa’s most influential leader on Twitter and 13th in the world.
Ruto, with over 5.6 million followers on Twitter, was also named the third most influential newly elected leader on Twitter by the agency, which has been tracking the growth of Digital Diplomacy since 2012.
Ruto was followed by Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the most influential world leader on Twitter, closely followed by US President Joe Biden and Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoan.
Former British prime minister Liz Truss is currently in first place among female world leaders.
The president has been gaining followers at a very high speed especially after he won the presidential elections. Moreover, he has been on social media fully amidst trolls from Kenyans. The former president Uhuru Kenyatta left social media and revealed that trolls were giving him a hard time.
