Raila's Camp Issues Fresh Warning To IEBC Ahead Of August That Could Massively Affect Elections

Azimio la Umoja-OKA has threatened to boycott the upcoming presidential elections if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission does not provide a manual voter register.

The coalition would not participate in the August 9 elections, according to Raila Odinga, the coalition's presidential candidate, if the IEBC did not provide a manual voters list.

At each polling location, a manual register is required. There will be no elections without manual voter registration and biometric voter identification, so we are informing the IEBC that these requirements are not negotiable.

He said this following a discussion between the coalition and the electoral agency about the "gray areas" they feel the commission needs to address to guarantee free, fair, and credible elections.

In their list of demands to the Chebukati-led commission, Azimio makes several requests of the election body, including a list of all polling stations and their geolocation, information on KIEMS (Kenya Integrated Election Management System) kits, training for ECs, and election management.

The Raila Odinga-led camp is also interested in the IEBC staff members' punishments for their roles in the incorrect voter transfer.
