With the 2022 presidential elections approaching, aspirants are keen on winning Mount Kenya region that has been taunted to be the deal maker or breaker for any candidate seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. The vast, expansive and extensive Mt Kenya has an an approximate of 6 Million votes across 11 counties.
Hon Kimani Wamatangi, the Kiambu Senator today revealed that he’s been approached by several presidential candidates to be their running mates in the 2022 General Election slated for August 9th next year.
The Senator was responding to a question passed to him by TV host, Trevor Ombija, over speculations that the two term Kiambu Senator was among the front runners for the Deputy President’s position in next years polls
“I have been approached and I have had discussions with a quite number of them but I’m training my focus first on delivering on the work that I have as a Senator.. "
The senator during the interview on Citizen TV, said that while he appreciates the interest shown in him, he is not ready to entertain and engage in politics till his term and president Uhuru's government go all the way to the end.
Political leaders seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta have been on a charm offensive campaign to woe the vote rich region to vote as a block for their presidential bids. Leaders who have shown interest in seat include Deputy President William Ruto, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, and ANC boss Musalia Mudavadi.
