The residents of Nandi Hills Constituency participated in the United Democratic Alliance Party nominations for the parliamentary seat yesterday. The exercise was postponed here following the demise of an aspirant by the name Wesley Kibet Kogo who died in a road accident.
The incumbent Member of Parliament Hon Alfred Keter clinched the highly coveted ticket. He garnered 10, 273 votes ahead of Bernard Kibor Kitur who bagged 7, 468 votes. It is worth noting that Keter joined UDA Party last month.
After the results were announced, the outspoken politician and his supporters who were bracing the cold in the Samoei Secondary School Tallying Center waited for the issuance of the nomination certificate. Unfortunately this did not happen as the certificate was not ready, according to UDA officials. Keter threatened not to get out of the center without it.
Later, he changed his mind and joined the locals in celebration in the streets of Nandi Hills.
