Jospeh Kinyua, who is stepping down, has taken over as Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service from Jospeh Kinyua, who is stepping down.
During Thursday's swearing-in ceremony for the Cabinet Secretaries at State House, Kinyua passed the baton to Kosgei, giving him control over the day's events.
Mr. Kinyua gave the new Chief of Staff, Kosgei, the oath of office before giving a short farewell speech from the podium.
President William Ruto was in charge of the event, and during his speech, Kinyua thanked the people of Kenya for giving him the chance to be the country's top civil servant.
Since Mwai Kibaki was president, Kinyua has been in charge, and he has served in multiple administrations.
When he leaves office, he will "hand over the responsibility of coordinating the public service to a new generation of civil servants," as he put it.
"I appreciate the opportunity to have served in your administration and the four before it. Truly, this has been an incredible privilege and an eye-opening experience. This extraordinary opportunity to serve Kenya and its President makes me very appreciative. "
He then stepped down from the lectern and handed Kosgei the microphone so that he could act as the event's host.
On October 14, 2022, President Ruto appointed Kosgei to serve in his Executive Office.
