Fred Matiangi Break Silence on High Court Ruling against Huduma Card Says Government Will Appeal

Yesterday, the Nairobi High Court ruled that the huduma card rollout was illegal. The high court judge Justice Jairus Ngaah made the ruling saying the law was not followed in rolling out the huduma namba card.

According to Justice Ngaah, the government did not conduct data protection impact assessment before initiating the process.

Hours after the high court ruling, the Interior and Coordination cabinet secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has revealed that the government will head to the Court of Appeal to challenge the High Court ruling against the huduma namba card rollout.

Dr Matiang'i has made the remarks today through his twitter account where he said " The government will appeal the High Court decision declaring Huduma Card illegal. Our conviction is that the Court's decision is based on the wrong interpretation of the essence and practical intentions of the Card, which is key to Gok's agenda to digitize service delivery."
