Central Kenya has become an epicenter of Kenyan politics in recent months. The region has not produced a strong presidential candidate in the upcoming general elections.
This means that the region is set to back one presidential candidate next year with Deputy President leading the race to scoop thr lion's share of the total votes due to his popularity in the region.
On Saturday, Deputy President Dr. William Samoei Ruto is set to tour Nyeri County to popularize his 2022 presidential election bid. DP Ruto is expected to neutralize Raila Odinga's growing influence in the county especially after his recent Azimio la Umoja Initiative.
DP Ruto has received a huge boost ahead of his Nyeri tour after MCAs allied to his United Democratic Alliance party appeared to be wearing ties with matching yellow colors.
Also, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga appeared standing between them before he read the State of County address. Mutahi Kahiga has still not declared his political stand, whether he is supporting Dp Ruto or not.
During the recent Raila Odinga visit to Nyeri county, he openly criticized the former Prime Minister telling him not to dwell in history but rather tell Nyeri residents what he will bring to them if elected as the next president of Kenya.
