Opinion; Number of Votes Kalonzo Might Get in August Elections

Initially the presidential contest was marked as a two horse race between African Union high representative for infrastructure Raila Odinga and deputy president William Ruto.

Circumstances have taken a different route after Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka decided to move out of the Azimio One Kenya Alliance to vie for presidency on his own using Wiper party ticket, Kalonzo named Narok based politician Andrew Ole Sunkuli to beat the independent electoral and boundaries commission deadline of naming running mates.

The former vice president enjoys a regional support from the Kamba region which as 2,083,006 total registered as of this year, Kalonzo's average support from the region is 84.5% as per the past three general elections from which a turnout of 80.7% is expected which translates to 1,680,986 votes. From the statistics, Kalonzo Musyoka is expected to garner 1,420,433 votes and he will have a deficit of 6,906,345 votes to be president.

Thank you.
