Dancing for Votes, Engineer Nicholas Gumbo Leaving No Stone Unturned

Former Member of Parliament Engineer Nicholas Gumbo is hunting votes through all means. He is eying the Siaya gubernatorial seat come 2022 general elections.

In a series of meetings in Siaya the former chair of the Public Accounts Committee has been going to the extent of dancing with the electorates, in order to sway them.

He first attempted to clinch the seat back in 2017 without success, he lost to governor Cornel Rasanga. His petition was thrown out by the court of appeal, giving Mr Rasanga a second term of five years in office.

Gumbo contested on an independent ticket, however, he has not disclosed the party he will use to vie for the position. All the other aspirants will be battling for the ODM ticket.

Engineer Gumbo will be facing off Siaya senator James Orengo who has declared an interest in the seat. Others in the race include Charles Owino (former police spokesman) and James Okumbe (deputy governor).
