The crowning of National Assembly speaker, Justin Muturibwhich is planned to take place on Saturday 22nd May 2021 is taking another twist as Kikuyu elders and political leaders in the area lock horns. The elders are split within their ranks with three groups emerging whereby one is in support and the other two oppose the plans. The event is said to be spearheaded by Kiama Kia Ma, Murang'a branch, while a section of the elders from the same group are opposed to the crowning.

At the same time, Kiama Kia Ma led by their national chairman have categorically distanced themselves from the ceremony saying it is against the Kikuyu culture while accusing their counterparts of greed. The elders of Gatanga wing said the mantle is still with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

At the shrine where the coronation is due to take place was a beehive of activities with people not minding the fact that the elders are sharply divided. According to the elders planning the ceremony, leaders in the region have failed to give directions to the people of Mt. Kenya.
