Kenyans React After Wetangula Assures Mps of Getting Their Car Allowances, Mortagage

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula has assured MPs that their car allowances and mortgage privileges shall be retained after talks Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Speaking on the first day of a week-long MP induction retreat in Safari Park hotel, Wetangula said that he will seek audience with SRC and deliberate on restoring the benefits MPs were enjoying.

Wetangula overcame competition from Kenneth Marende, who had been fronted by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya, to win the Speaker contest held in the chambers of the National Assembly.

In the election pact, the Head of State was to come from Rift valley, the deputy president from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region whereas the third in command of the country, Speaker of the National Assembly, was to come from the Western region.

He assured the legislators that as the Speaker, he will ensure that the reform is achieved and even if there will be changes, they shall not be substantial.
