The August 9th 2022 General Election are just less than 90 days and the race for Juja Constituency Parliamentary seat is hotting up to be a battle between Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) and President Uhuru Kenyatta’s newly revamped Jubilee Party.
The seat is currently held by Hon George Koimburi who was overwhelmingly elected in a by-election in March last year after he floored Jubilee candidate Susan Njeri, who came in second with 5,764 votes.
As we edge closer to the August polls, the race has attracted the incumbent who is now defending his seat on a UDA ticket, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's brother Alloise Kinyanjui who is flying Jubilee's flag, Kelvin Karanja Mwangi and Anthony Kirori.
An opinion poll released by Mizani Africa, a Kenyan based research firm has shown that were elections to be held today Koimburi would get re-elected. He emerged as the most popular parliamentary candidate with 43.1 per cent.
Jubilee's Alloise Kinyanjui came second after garnering a popularity rating of 40 per cent in the survey. Karanja Mwangi and Hon Antony Kirori were third and fourth respectively after securing 8.3% and 5.3%. Respondents who remained undecided on who to support in the parliamentary contest were 3.3 per cent.
