Details have emerged that president Uhuru Kenyatta has a tough task in persuading himself on who to support in 2022 even as he seeks to accomplish his Big Four agenda.
It is alleged that some of his allies have made it clear that they would prefer ODM leader Raila Odinga to become the heir of the presidency.
Some members of the family Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, who is of President Uhuru's father, are said to be favoring Baringo Senator Gideon Moi to become the fifth president after next year's general election.
Others in the cabinet have also openly declared their preference as Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang’i as the next president.
On the other hand, deputy president William Ruto is said to have won hearts and is very close to getting the 8 million votes that most Presidential candidates will be trying to bag.
"These are very powerful networks and the President may find himself in the same situation as a gambler who has lost cards in his hand," said local political analyst Prof Ngugi Njoroge.
According to former Dagorretti South MP Dennis Waweru, "there are those who say that Mr Odinga cannot be elected. That is a lie because Mr Odinga is a Kenyan with equal opportunity to be elected even by the people of Mount Kenya. ”
It is an idea supported by Gatanga MP Mr Nduati Ngugi who says that “Mr Odinga has the potential to succeed President Kenyatta.
