The current Kirinyaga governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru said that she will defend her seat through the party that wananchi wants her to join. She was addressing residents of kirinyaga when she asked them to suggest a party that they want her to join. "Nlikuwa nmesema nitasikiza wananchi wants kirinyaga wataniambia mini, sindio? Nyinyi mnataka niingie chama gani?" She asked. The crowd shouted out 'UDA' in unison. She also went ahead to ask them if she joins the party will they elect her come 2022 and the answer was yes.
This comes after weeks of speculations on which side of political divide will the governor join. Ann Waiguru was the former minister of devolution and this is where she was accused of corruptions. She was also accused of corruptions in Kirinyaga county and MCAs decided to impeach her but the senate defended her.
