President William Ruto arrived in Tanzania on Sunday evening, for a two-day tour in the neighboring country after he left Uganda, where he had visited to attend their 60th Independence Day fete.
On the morning of Monday, 10 October, President Ruto made his first briefing to the media while in Tanzania as the President of Kenya. During his address, the head of state touched on some important issues that have been causing a barrier between Tanzania and Kenya, especially in the the sector of trade.
While speaking in a joint press conference in the company of his counterpart President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania, President Ruto revealed that he had agreed with President Suluhu to foster trade between Tanzania and Kenya by eliminating the current cross-border barriers.
The Head of State promised that the barriers affecting trade between the two countries would have been lifted by December 22 to allow citizens of the two nations to trade freely.
