Narc Kenya party leader, Martha Karua, threw a jibe to Ruto's government where she called for respect from both sides of the political divide. Karua also warned Governor Barasa that his cooperation with the National Government should be from a point of strength.

"Let me say that we must safeguard democracy that Rev Sulumeti fought for. We must not allow the government to take us back from where we have come from. Tuheshimiane tafadhali. And please the governor, even if you have promised to cooperate with the National Government, work from a point of strength and remember that you were elected by these citizens," alluded Karua.

This statement by Karua caused cheering from the congregation which had gathered. Martha Karua was Raila's running mate in the August polls under the Azimio coalition party.
