With less than 77 days to go until the August 9 general election, Deputy President William Ruto and UDA leader once again found themselves in a precarious position after their partner was expected to be barred from running in the next election.
Aman has gone to court to prevent Keroche Breweries chief executive Tabitha Karanja from running for the Nakuru Senate seat due to tax evasion.
But Justice Anthony Mrima has ordered that the matter be referred to the Nakuru High Court.
The judge said that after considering the application, he noted that the alleged violations of the constitution took place within Nakuru County, which is why it was decided to transfer it.
Today's action comes at a time when a group of civil society groups has called on the IEBC not to remove 25 criminal prosecutors for the alleged crimes. Among them is Cape Town MP Oscar Sudi who wants to defend his seat with a UDA ticket accused of forging a diploma certificate.
