Today Western leaders from different parties camped in Kakamega to launch Western Azimio La Umoja. The event was officially launched by former prime minister Raila Odinga. Various leaders from the region attended the launch led by Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya.
After the launch the leaders made their way to Kakamega town to address local residents. Their motorcade brought the town to a standstill as local residents stormed in the town to receive the leaders led by ODM party leader Raila Odinga. The crowd joyfully cheered as the leaders made their way in the town.
Azimio La Umoja launch is set to unite the region ahead of 2022 polls. The leaders pledged to work together and unite the region as the next general election approaches. Various issues affecting the region were addressed in the Azimio La Umoja launch.
Various leaders from Western region and delegates from five Western region counties attended the launch. Leaders present include Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya, Kisii governor James Ongwae, Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong, Suna East legislator Junet Mohammed, MP Raphael Wanjala, ODM secretary general Edwin Sifuna among other elected leaders.
