On the political front, we witnessed the impeachment of former governor Mike Sonko under the leadership of former president Uhuru Kenyatta, who fought for Sonko's replacement. The year 2021 had its ups and downs. It appears that Sonko disliked being told to get up from his seat before the allotted time.
He actually let his rage out on Uhuru Kenyatta, who even made the suggestion that he be tried for bribery, corruption, and other crimes. It would appear that Sonko has spoken out today to admit that the previous president overplayed his hand by assuming that he was so shrewd in his decisions. Sonko and Ann Kananu were friends before Sonko entered politics. At one point, Kananu saved Sonko's life from certain politicians.
Sonko said that because many people wanted him to die in a helicopter crash, he worked secretly with Kananu to schedule flights. He admitted that until Uhuru replaced him with Kananu, he was unaware of their private friendship and their continued collaboration. Sonko asserted that Kananu and his friendship have not altered as a result of politics, and that the two of them support one another's political ambitions.
