Constituency 'Risks' Undergoing a By-election as MP Faces Jail Term Over Fraud

Sirisia constituency is set to undergo a By-election sooner following a jail term facing their Elected Member of parliament. The member of Parliament, John Waluke is said to have been involved in a 297 million maize scandal that saw him given a jail term of 67 years in prison and his business associate, Ms Wakhungu a 69 year jail term last year.

John Waluke unsatisfied with the conviction went ahead to seek an appeal from the High Court to set aside the conviction. The court has today done away with the appeal suggesting that the MP and his business associate will be jailed as earlier on convicted or pay a fine of 727 million and 707 million respectively.

"After carefully considering evidence, this court came to the conclusion that the appeals have no merit. The criminal charges were proved beyond reasonable doubt," said the judge on Thursday while dismissing the appeal."
