Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has trended over the last few days for the wrong reasons. He was arraigned in court before chief magistrate Diana Mochache to answer to charges of terrorism, among other charges. The former governor denied all the charges leveled against him. He was in tears while narrating to the court his adversity at the Gigiri police station where he claimed that someone wanted to inject him with unknown substance.
The events surrounding the trial of Sonko drew alot of mixed reactions from netizens with some sympathizing with him and saying that the governor ought not to have engaged the "deep state" and "system" in a braul.
Governor Alfred Mutua had this to say, "Sonko was misled to think he can get away with everything. He has been behaving the same way for a period of time and was rewarded not only by the state but also the voters. But he is innocent until proven guilty. He should not be mistreated"
Rarieda law maker said, "Sonko has been reckless with his speeches and actions lately. Someone did not remind him that in law, you can only confess against yourself not against somebody else even if we committed the offense together"
