Angry residents storm Ruai KPLC offices over week-long black out

A section of Nairobi residents at Kamulu area, Ruai Ward stormed the Kenya Power and Lighting Offices to demand an explanation over a two week black out.

The residents initially launched complains to the power company after a power outage that has been running for two weeks.

Seeing that their problem was not resolved, the irate residents drove to the offices to demand for an immediate response.

"We have been in darkness for two weeks, our children are not learning, we are not even working from home. We want KPLC to tell us what is so hard to fix," said one resident.

According to an explanation provided by KPLC, a faulty transformer was the cause of the outage.

Upon getting a technician to work on the faulty transformer, the residents held the dispatch vehicle under custody until engineers sorted out the problem.

"We have parked our vehicles around these technicians to ensure that they will not give us another excuse until they fix the transformer."

The repairs went well into the night with the electricity finally being restored at 7.30pm.
