On Tuesday, the Makueni Deputy Governor Adelina Mwau was ushered in United Democratic Alliance (UDA) by Deputy President William Ruto. This comes as a surprise to many because Governor Kivutha Kibwana dropped his presidential bid and joined Azimio last Umoja movement to support Raila. Kivutha said that they called the people of Makueni and agreed that he drops his presidential bid and join Raila.

Reacting to the move made by Adelina Mwau, Kibwana stated, "My attention has been drawn to clandestine dealings between Adelina Mwau (deputy governor Makueni County) and United Democratic Alliance. She had even pledged to take with her a huge delegation of our common political friends to UDA, who declined her overtures."

Kibwana also revealed that the people of Makueni are behind Azimio la Umoja and that they won't be misled by people who are after their selfish interests. Kibwana also said that Adelina will walk alone to the UDA Party since she made her own decisions."While I respect Adelina for the good working relations for the last 9 years, her latest move puts our working together on the edge. The voice of the people of Makueni has always been our guide in decision-making. I will not abandon that principle for political expediency. ADELINA will walk alone," Governor Kivutha said.
