County government are struggling to implement some of the projects in the Counties. This is after the Central government delayed to disburse Counties revenue on time. The former Council of Governors chairman Wyclife Oparanya stated earlier that the Counties are unable to fulfil some of key projects due to lack of funds. Lack of funds in the Counties has led to a prolonged health workers strike which has affected many Kenyans.
Cabinet Secretary for finance Ukur Yatan sent a breaking message to Counties that have some iddle money, speaking on Wednesday, Yatan stated that Counties that have idle money will miss out on County capitition.
“There are situations in which county governments do not utilise resources given to them. Others have more than Sh3 billion in their accounts but keep asking for additional resources. It is the responsibility of the National Treasury to enforce good financial management"- CS Yatan stated.
