The manner in which Daniel Mbolu Musyoka died was not the appropriate one. May he rest in peace, his soul. Mr. Musyoka served as the returning officer for the Nairobi district of Embakasi East for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Musyoka is seen on surveillance film leaving the voting place alone before his body is later found in Oloitoktok, Kajiado County.
His daughter, who goes by the Twitter handle @prumbolu, has conveyed the uncertainty and pain that a child should never experience regarding her father. Since the body was found in the thicket, she has not posted anything. The family is through unfathomable suffering.
Musyoka passed away just three weeks after it was five years since Chris Msando and Carol Ngumbu were assassinated on July 28, 2017. When Mr. Msando was slain and subjected to torture, he was the ICT director of IEBC.
His killers have not yet been apprehended and punished. Wafula Chebukati, the chair of the IEBC, has raised concern over threats made against some of his employees, some of whom he claims were detained "to scare them." Most likely, the murders and threats are intended to skew the results of the election.
