VIDEO: Young Murang'a MP Humiliates CS Alice Wahome Who Made Her Win the Seat

Murang'a Woman Rep Betty Maina.

A political storm is building up in Murang’a county few months after the general elections that saw the now President William Ruto’s UDA party carry the day in Mt Kenya region.

Some MPs from Murang’a have started war of words over who is superior and who should call shots in Murang’a.

The latest is the fight between the young Woman Rep Betty Maina who has waged war on Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Alice Muthoni Wahome.

CS Alice Wahome (L) with Betty Maina at a past event.

Betty, a first time politician who was a footsoldier of former Murang’a Women rep Sabina Chege turned 35 years few days ago but she is positioning herself as the mots powerful female leader in the county.

She is challenging the two-time Kandara MP Alice who was appointed CS by Ruto. Alice will turn 64 years in April.

Speaking to media (Video below) after Kandara by-election last week, Betty insulted Alice saying she is old and should know it is time for the young leaders like her to take control of Murang’a politics.

Maina called out the CS for allegedly failing to support the UDA candidate Chege Njuguna who emerged as the winner after he garnered 21,650 votes and instead supported a candidate from another party.

The trouble started after it was claimed Alice was supporting Ford Asili’s candidate Titus Njau instead of UDA’s aspirant Chege Njuguna.

Eight candidates participated in the mini-polls. Njuguna won with 21,650 followed by Ndichu with 14,678 votes.

Out of 105, 148 registered voters, only 38, 625 turned out to vote.

Chege Njuguna who was elected Kandara MP in last week's by-elections.

Angered by the fallout in the party, Betty started attacking her aging political mentor Alice saying she will fight her to the end if she participates in local politics rather than serve the national mandate as CS.

“Tutanyorosha yeye. She should be a Minister and not a village plumber” she said.

The attack on CS who is yet to respond has not been taken well by some MCAs from Murang’a who said are ready to face-off the Woman rep.

Titus Njau of Ford Asili was Wahome's favourite candidate.

The battle is expected to escalate further as the leaders from this county start aligning themselves with the CS and others with Betty.
