New Claims Emerge that There were 140K Extra Votes than the Actual Valid Votes

Trouble has started barely a day after the declaration of the presidential results by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman Wafula Chebukati. This after the spilt was experienced within the commissioner where four of the seven commissioners distanced themselves from the results that Chebukati announced.

The commissioners while addressing the press yesterday from Serena Hotel said that they will issue a comprehensive statement today on why they did not agree with the results that made William Ruto the president elect.

In today's press, the four commissioners led by the vise chair Juliana Cherera have still maintained that the declaration of William Ruto as president elect by Wafula Chebukati was unconstitutional and that he's not given the solo mandate of the returning officer of the presidential election. According to the Commissioners, the mandate to verify the presidential election is based on quorum and that all must agree before any step is taken.

"The results of the presidential election declared and announced on August 15th by Mr Chebukati belonged to himself and do not represent the declaration and announcement by IEBC ."Juliana Cherera

They went ahead to reveal that Chebukati made the announcement even before confirming tye results from over 20 constituencies whose results were yet to be declared. Equally they cited mischief where the Chebukati failed to show the results on the big screens as it was done from the initial stages.

Another dire mischief that the commissioners noted was that the total percentage that the IEBC released was above the 100% which would account to over 140,000 extra votes that would not be accounted for.

"The total exceeded the 100% mark, the 0.01% translates to 142,000 votes which made a significant difference in the final presidential results." Juliana Cherera.
