Kieni Member of parliament Kanini Kega, has given Deputy President William Ruto a headache. After a church service, Kega informed Ruto that just because he pledged the Deputy President' s position, he should not expect to be voted in by the Mt Kenya region. Kega suggested that the region will support Uhuru' s candidate, Raila Odinga.
" We at Mt Kenya don' t have a presidential candidate, for now there is Raila Odinga and William Ruto. Those will be the one on the presidential race, the rest are just joker. I don' t think there is anyone else with the weight of being on the race. However, we at the mountain, because we won' t have a candidate in 2022 how shall we organise ourselves? And shall we be on the next government? And that is why we are telling those who are the two top candidate to show us with actions not verbally that they will stand with us. We want the vote for the president to be represented in the Parliament because in most cases our say ends at the presidential race, " revealed Kanini Kega.
" Secondly, we want a person who will tell us how his people voted in the Parliament during the revenue division bill that could have largely benefitted our people. He should tell us whether he supported BBI Report that was addressing the mountain issues. But we won' t vote for you just because you promised us the seat of the Deputy President and Ministers, we have had them before. We have all seen that the government that our president is supporting Raila Odinga and that is Where we are going, " Continued Kanini Kega
Although Raila is likely to retire now that he has been beaten, either voluntarily or as a result of pressure from Kenyans tired of his ongoing presence in national politics, as well as his senior age.
