Whenever election period approaches in Kenya,the mountain region enjoys the monotony of being overated.
This sense of entitlement has always been amusing majority of citizens who wonder what the region posses that is not in the other regions in the country.
You will see prominent politicians shifting their attention in Mt Kenya seeking support in their presidential bid by making regular visits in and out of the region.
Apart from the belief that the region hosts a huge population of voters during general elections there are other reasons that might constitute in it being a centre of interest for all political aspirants.
It is in the public knowledge that out of the four presidents Kenya has had since independence,Mt Kenya has produced three of them both coming from the Kikuyu tribe.
This could have made them feel superior more than the rest of the regions hence dominating the Kenyan political scene over a long time now.
It is hard for the aspirants to contest without minding what stand the region has political wise making them key determinants in the outcome of any elections.
