A huge crowd of local residents warmly welcomed the former Gichugu member of parliament and his entourage in the town. The heroic reception brought everything in the town to a standstill.
Jubilee party legislators and aspirants from the county are accompanying Karua in the mega rally. They include; Jubilee gubernatorial candidate Senator Ephraim Maina, Othaya legislator Gichuki Mugambi, Nyeri Town legislator Kimani Wambugu, Kanini Kega, Nyeri deputy governor Carolina Karugu among other elected leaders.
Karatina town is in Mathira constituency which is the home Constituency of UDA party running mate Rigathi Gachagua. Legislator Rigathi Gachagua was elected in 2017 polls on a Jubilee party ticket as the area member of parliament before ditching to UDA party.
After Karatina town the Azimio brigade will head to Chaka market then to Nyeri Town before terminating at Giakanja market. They are also expected to tour Kieni Constituency and will be hosted by Jubilee party diehard Kanini Kega.
In the evening the Azimio presidential team will tour Muranga county for a series of rallies in the county. Jubilee gubernatorial candidate Jamleck Kamau, Muranga women representative Sabina Chege, Kigumo legislator Wangari Mwaniki and Jubilee party aspirants will host them.
Karua has scaled Azimio presidential campaigns in Mount Kenya region after her nominations as Azimio running mate by former prime minister Raila Odinga on Monday at KICC buildings.
