Governance Expert Peter Mbae now claims that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate Raila Odinga is putting pressure to President William Ruto to stop the ouster of the three commissioners of IEBC; Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi and Irene Masit after Justus Nyang'aya resigned because he is fearful they might spill 'the real beans.'
Nyang'aya resigned after Ruto formed a tribunal to probe him and his three colleagues, after recommendations by the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC).
Speaking with TV 47 on Monday, Mbae opines that Raila does nos not want the commissioners to appear before the tribunal led by Justice Aggrey Muchelule, since they might speak the truth of what transpired for them to distance themselves from Ruto's win as announced by the Chair Wafula Chebukati.
"The commissioners, if according to the Supreme Court there was some political influence, Raila does not want them to go to the tribunal, because they can decide to go and say as it is, spill the beans on what happened just for their lives."
"They can go to the tribunal and give a very different story, and that is what Raila does not want. Why can't he call the protests after the KCSE exams? Because he knows that the tribunal will be sitting down as soon as possible, and deliver their report in 30 days. He has to put the pressure now, that's why he is calling for the protests," said Mbae.
