Nairobi Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Member of Parliament Timothy Wanyonyi Wetangula has now made a quick U-turn over the National Super Alliance (NASA) 2017 preelection Memorandum of Understanding.
The Westlands MP argued that the former prime minister Raila Odinga should honour the MoU which might have required him (Raila Odinga) to endorse one of his NASA co-principals in 2022 presidential race.
According to the lawmaker, the ODM ought to heed to the calls their former friends and fulfill when they might have agreed on in the MoU whose details is unknown to the public.
The MP averred that the four NASA principals Raila Odinga (ODM leader), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper Democratic Movement leader), Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress leader) and Moses Wetangula (FORD-Kenya leader) drafted a secret Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) whose details were not known to their fellow politicians in the camp and the public.
He claimed that the four NASA principals indeed signed the Memorandum of Understand (MoU). Also, he asserted the quartet know its contents.
In his observation, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) were at liberty to listen to their coalition partners and fulfill some of their requests.
However, Wanyonyi alleged that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was illegal and unconstitutional.
"The document that was signed by the NASA principals was never made public to anyone. It is only the four of them who know the contents of that document. It is upon ODM’s goodwill to share the cake with its partners but its not anchored in law," said Wanyonyi while appearing on Citizen Live on Tuesday.
This comes amidst the spite which occurred in National Super Alliance (NASA) following calls made by Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Democratic Movement chief Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma senator Moses Wetangula to Raila Odinga, to support one of them in 2022 presidential polls.
Nevertheless, Raila has dismissed calls for endorsement from his NASA partners. He alleged that he would not endorse anyone for top seat in 2022.
