Ruto's Mt Kenya Vote in Jeopardy as Kang'ata Makes Fresh Demands to The DP or else Kikuyus Reject

In the run-up to the 2022 General Election, Deputy President William Ruto is at a loss for a running mate.

This comes after Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata told him to choose his running mate from the Mt. Kenya region or else the region would support another candidate for president, ostensibly Raila Odinga.

During an interview, Kang'ata stated that the only way for Ruto to popularize the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is for him to choose a running mate from Central Kenya.

”In my opinion, it would be very wise for Ruto's 2022 running mate to come from the Mt Kenya region, which is on our side.

“This will increase the popularity of the UDA party,” Kang'ata said.

Ruto is expected to run for president on a UDA ticket after falling out with the ruling Jubilee Party leadership.

Kang'ata also stated that the Mt Kenya region had not issued any demands for him to submit to Ruto.

”The truth is that I have not been asked to go and issue demands to the deputy president at this time.”

“So all the people of Mt. Kenya expect from us is that we work closely with him,” Kang'ata explained.

Nonetheless, he claimed that Ruto has the full support of the Mt Kenya region after making inroads there.

“There have been by-elections in Central Kenya that the hustler nation has won, which is a clear indication that Ruto has enough support in the region to become the fifth president,” Kang'ata explained.
