The race for the top Kirinyaga County seat was set between two heavyweights from the region in Former Woman Representative Purity Ngirici who was running as an Independent Candidate and Governor Anne Waiguru of the United Democratic Alliance party who was seeking a second term in office.
Governor Anne Waiguru prevailed over Purity Ngirici in a tight race, beating her by a mere few thousand votes in the final tally to be declared as the governor for a second term in office.
Purity Wangui, undeterred, went to to court and was challenging Governor Anne Waiguru's Win for the top seat in the County of Kirinyaga.
The circumstances or reasons behind the dropping of the case have not yet been revealed as per the reports that we have with us this afternoon.
Purity Wangui Ngirici has a week to formally withdraw the case from the courts as per the law.
This is the third case against a United Democratic Alliance allied politician that has been dropped after CS Nominees Linturi and Jumwa's cases were both dropped.
