Kenneth, Munya, Chege Thrown Under The Bus As Mt Kenya Tells Raila Who Should be His Running Mate

The Kikuyu Council of Elders have approved Martha Karua as Raila Odinga's running mate on Tuesday.

According to the elders and the Kiama Kiama national office, of the ten candidates for the position who were interviewed, Ms. Karua had the finest understanding of politics and democracy.

"Four contenders are in for Raila's running mate from Mount Kenya. We would support them, but based on our experience, we will be pleased if Martha Karua becomes Mr. Odinga's running mate and later his deputy president", the elders said in a statement read by the national chairman, Ndungu wa Gaithama.

The DP post, according to the elders, requires the best experience and applicant compatibility.

The elders stated, "The post of the country's number two is a major appointment that, given our recent history, requires a mature individual with a public record of good value standards, who is constantly focused, selfless, and citizen-centered."

Mr. Gaithama urged Mount Kenya voters against electing political amateurs who lacked a clear understanding of politics.

"As Gikuyu elders, we have witnessed our people who do not understand politics speaking in the motorcade in an attempt to get votes, which is why we have intervened," he stated.

In addition to Ms. Karua, Peter Kenneth, Sabina Chege, Peter Munya, and Lee Kinyanjui are those who applied to be Mr. Odinga's running mate.

Other candidates are Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho (ODM), his Kakamega counterpart Wycliffe Oparanya (ODM), Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu (Narc), and Stephen Tarus (National Liberal Party).
