Tension In Kirinyaga Ahead Of Ruto's Visit As Protesting Youths Burn Waiguru's Campaign Materials

Ahead of deputy president William Ruto's visit of the Kirinyaga county, protests have been witnessed with a section of youths burning campaign materials belonging to governor Anne Waiguru.

According to photos shared by a local media house, Nation, the youths can be seen trying to block some roads with fire lit, the jackets with Waiguru's photos can be seen burning.

It is not clear why the anti-Waiguru youths are demonstrating, however, there have been tension between the two camps of the governor and that of women representative Purity Ngirici, the two have been engaged in verbal war with Ngirici accusing the governor of trying to lock her out of the 2022 race especially after she crossed from Jubilee to UDA.

The two are expected to host Ruto for a church function and later for a series of rallies in the county, all eyes are set in Kirinyaga as Ruto and the team heads there.
