The first Meru Female member of Parliament likened the current situation of governor Kawira Mwangaza to what she faced during her reign as a member of Parliament. According to her, male politicians ganged against her leading to her Ouster and Jailing. She argued that the charges against her were just trumped up.
Karimi warned the first time governor who was elected on an independent ticket to trade carefully as she deals with the Meru politicians, according to her, Kawira risks being thrown into political oblivion by the politicians If she is not careful enough.
She noted that the Meru members of the county Assembly are out to oust the governor for flimsy reason. She however noted that the governor is doing a great work in the county and asked her to continue.
The push to have Kawira ousted by the members of the county assembly was seen as being against the women leadership, this was the argument by majority of female leaders.
Besides the position of the women representative that the constitution provides for, Governor Kawira Mwangaza is the second woman to be elected to a political office in Meru, since Karimi was elected in 1975 as South Imenti constituency member of Parliament in a by election, no any other woman has been elected as a member of Parliament in Meru
