Raila Odinga's Call For Countrywide Rallies Faces Backlash From his Luo Nyanza Backyard

The decision by the Azimio la Umoja party leader Raila Odinga to hold countrywide public rallies to engage the public on the ouster of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) vice chair Juliani Cherera and other three colleagues has been met with great opposition from his Nyanza backyard.

Through a statement he shared on his social media accounts, the former Lake Basin Development Authority chairperson Odoyo Owidi, has advised the Nyanza people never to attend the planned rallies by the former prime minister.

According to Owidi who is also a former ally of Raila Odinga, the ODM boss is just planning for street protests disguised as rallies so as to attract many people with an aim of puting the Luo community under his control.

"His intention incidentally is not to capture Kenya, his intention is to keep the luo community in the same box he has kept them since 1994," he said through a video clip he shared on his Facebook page.

He says that chances are high that many people would get hurt in such public rallies adding the burden will only remain on them and their families and not Raila Odinga who is the organiser of such rallies hence people should keep of such rallies.

He further said the ODM boss is not being realistic when he demands for changes in the IEBC saying that he had earlier accused the West of interfering with Kenyan 2022 presidential contest and not the IEBC.
