Agnes Kavindu, Machakos Senatorial candidate under Wiper Movement Party was on Friday announced by IEBC as the Senator-elect in a position that was left vacant by the death of Boniface Kabaka.
Kavindu bagged 104,0802 votes against her closest competitor Mr. Urbanus Ngengele of the United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) who got less than 20,000 votes.
The by-elections were conducted few days after Governor Mutua's party Maendelo Chap Chap (MCC) announced that it had withdrawn its candidate Mutua Katuku from the race on what Governor Mutua was stated as heeding to President Uhuru's call on peace and unity.
"The competition was not good, the withdrawal by Maendelo Chap Chap was unfortunate and did not benefit us, despite withdrawing the party leader (Governor Mutua) never announced that they were supporting us, we defeated you hands down.." said MP Makau.
The legislator further slammed Governor Mutua stating that he was a 'trickster' who was against Agnes Kavindu's.
In a past address Mutua was captured on camera shunning down the Wiper party for settling on Kavindu as their candidate owing to her controversial academic qualifications.
Mutua claimed Kavindu was incompetent to lead the residents of the Ukambani county in the Senate, remarks that were criticized by Wiper leaders led by the Vice Chair Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior.
Mutua also called upon the residents to elect a leaders who will work with him amicably, without political stunts.
