The troubled IEBC Commissioner, led by vice chair Juliana Cherera, has been suspended by President Ruto today.
The head of state announced their suspension in a gazette notification that was delivered to newsrooms on Friday.
Justus Nyang'aya, Francis Wanderi, and Irine Masit are the other commissioners.
This action has drawn a lot of responses online, with netizens doubting president Ruto's devotion, led by Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.
Owino allegedly questioned why President Ruto is upsetting Kenyans who he claimed were depressed while claiming to be a prayerful leader.
"President William Ruto claimed to be a devout Christian who prays three times a day: in the morning, at lunch, and in the evening. According to the Bible, avenging yourself should be left to God, who already has the power. Why is he upsetting depressed people? asked Babu Owino.
The head of state stated that the choice was made in response to a National Assembly recommendation that sought to remove the commissioners due to their behavior on Election Day, August 9, 2022.
