Raila's visit of the Mombasa follows that one of president William Ruto who ushered in the new year from the county. During this period, the president held meetings with governor Abdulswamad Nassir and a number of coast leaders. Governor Abdulswamad also joined the president in his tour of the Galana alongside other coast leaders.
The governor has vowed to work with President Wiliam Ruto and his government for the benefit of the people of Mombasa, however he remains a member of the Orange Democratic Movement party and the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party.
Raila is determined to keep intact Mombasa and the entire coastal region which has supported his bid for years. However he is facing a big challenge as president Ruto is also determined to dislodge him from the region, already the president has a number of Influential leaders from the region who supports him.
