Kenyans Gang Up Against Millicent Omanga After Her Remarks On The HELB Bill

A few days ago, President Uhuru Kenyatta rejected a Bill that sought to cap Higher Education Loans Board’s interest. The HELB (Amendment) Bill, 2020 which was introduced by nominated MP Gideon Keter was to increase the grace period for repayment of the loan to five years. This brought a mixed reactions from Kenyans as majority of them ganged up against the head of state for not taking this into consideration.

Nairobi county nominated women representative Millicent Omanga has taken a jibe at the Jubilee party leader and the fourth president of Kenya over his move to reject the bill that would lower interest on HELB. Taking to her official Twitter account, the vocal legislator argued that the Azimio La Umoja movement is hypocritically promising Kenyans a free education upto university where the President failed to pass a bill that would lift the manifesto up.

"President Uhuru—the Azimio Council chairman—rejected the bill that would have lowered interest on HELB. Yet in political rallies Azimio is promising free education upto university level. Hypocrites!!!" her post read.
