The deputy president His Excellence William Samoei Ruto is one of the anticipated 2022 presidential candidate in a move to succeed the head of the nation president Uhuru Mwigai Kenyatta. He is expected to face his opponents from other parties including the former prime minister Raila Odinga.

Amongst the leaders from Bungoma county, he had, the current Bungoma member of Parliament Mwambu Mabonga, Kimilili MCA Didmus Barasa, John Waluke, Dan Wanyama, Fred Kapwondi, Mandago and Ben Washiliali also known as 001, Boni Mtetezi.
Other leaders included his diehard allies from the mountain region that is Kimani Ichungwah, Ndidi Nyoro, Njuguna Wanjiku and Kositany. The meeting is on plans to organize their camp ahead of the 2022 general election.
