There was drama in Kisumu County earlier after a police operation led to the arrest of 50 people in the lakeside city. The incident which happened in popular Lolwe area of the town led to several injuries as revelers were teargassed by a contingent of police officers.
According to Kenyans.co.ke digital news platform, a team led by Kisumu sub county commissioner was informed of a popular club that was operating beyond the restricted time. The police boss together with his team of General Service Unit officers went to the club to arrest the revelers but were met with stiff resistance. This forced the police commander to throw teargas canisters to flash out the party goers which included 5 Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) officers.
The police arrested 50 members including staff for defying curfew restrictions, drinking beyond the recommended time and resisting arrest. They will be taken to court on Monday to face various charges.
