Since the handshake between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga in March 2018, the President and his Deputy have not been in good terms. This has been seen as the two leaders have been throwing words to one another whenever they speak in public.
Also the members of Parliament who are allied to the Deputy President had been axed from the various positions they had in the party and also in Senate and National Assembly. The positions were majorly given to the allies of the president and the ODM party leader Raila Odinga. This marked the beginning of his Political battle within the party.A photograph of Nakuru County senator Susan Kihika and Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen addressing the journalist after being axed from Senate majority leader and majority whip.
What seems to have worsened the situation was the existence of United Democratic Alliance UDA party which is a Jubilee Party affiliate party which has its affairs ran by the Deputy President William Samoei Ruto and his allies. The battle has even gone to an extent where President Uhuru Kenyatta had called upon him to resign if he had a view that the government was not delivering to Kenyans. 'Ningependa kumwambia naibu wangu atundokee serikalini kama haridhiki nayo kwa sababu mkono ingine anasema serikali ni mbaya mkono ingine anasema sisi kama serikali tumefanya hii. Kwani serikali ni ngapi' president Uhuru Kenyatta said.
During the National Management Committee meeting that was held yesterday, the National Management Committee of the Jubilee Party that is in charge of running all the Jubilee Party affairs wrote a letter to the party National Executive Committee calling upon the committee to dismiss the Deputy Party leader William Samoei Ruto. The party leader, president Uhuru Kenyatta has a choice to dismiss the decision by the National Executive Committee or differ the recommendation.
This also shows that the Deputy President is under high pressure within the party so that he may decide to quit or agree with the party's moves.
